New Realm Acupuncture Center has been a blessing. At the age of 25 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid arthritis. I couldn’t turn my neck or hold my newborn. The pain I was so horrible. It would take me two hours to get out bed. Since seeing New Realm Acupuncture, I am able to hold my baby and move my neck very well. Thank you so much!

Appetite Control

Appetite Control

By Scot Ashton

I had suffered with low back pain for many years. A neurologist and an orthopedic doctor diagnosed it as myofascial strain and told me to “live with it”. I saw New Realm Acupuncture at the Asian Festival, read the pamphlet, studied and read facts about acupuncture myself and had 8 weeks’ treatment. My back is much more flexible, much less pain now and I am able to lift weights and take long walks again. Acupuncture has also relieved my stress and tension, given me a balanced appetite. Meaning while, Chinese herbal therapy (moxibustion) has helped my sinus and eczema! I am so grateful!

I have referred many people to New Realm Acupuncture! Thank you!

Anxiety

Anxiety

By Brad Brewer

I was in a particularly stressful time in my life and found that the stress and anxiety I was experiencing was taking a physical toll on me. I was only able to sleep a couple of hours each night because there was so much on my mind. The worry of whether or not I’d be able to sleep at night added to the vicious cycle I was experiencing. I dearly missed the restful sleeps I used to have. Wanting to avoid pills, I contacted New Realm Acupuncture Center. I found Dr. GAO and Jing to be caring and professional. I am confident that the treatments I received helped restore my sleep and alleviate my anxiety and stress.

My sincere thanks to Dr. GAO and Jing,

Brad Brewer

Ankle Pain

Ankle Pain

By Rachel Yoho

For almost eleven months, I had been having chronic pain in my Achilles tendons in my ankles. I play tennis quite often, on the varsity tennis team in high school and recreationally. The pain kept getting worse, especially during tennis season when I was playing two and three hour matches every day. I tried going to the conventional doctor, and they gave me stretches and told me to use Advil, but instead of getting better, my ankles got worse. My mom suggested that I try acupuncture, so I did. Just after a few short weeks (only 8 visits !!!), my ankles are so much better and I can go back to playing tennis again.

Thank you so much!

Allergy

Allergy

By Joann Codrea

I am very grateful to have found New Realm Acupuncture Center, GAO and Jing. I had been suffering from very painful sinusitis for several months that would not go away. As soon as the first needle was inserted, I felt relief. I kept coming back and as a result for the first time in my life I had no allergy symptoms this past spring. The acupuncture has helped with joint pain, headaches, back pain and stress for me. I have been going through a very stressful time and do not know how I would have succeeded it without the help of GAO and Jing. Acupuncture is very very good medicine.

I have chronic sinusitis and environmental and food allergies. Headache and sinus infections have been habitual for me. I have taken decongestants and antihistamines on a regular basis. Acupuncture has relieved the sinus pressure and puffiness in my face. I can’t believe haven’t had a headache for so long! I was referred to New Realm by my sister in law who was their patient. Dr. GAO and Jing operate in a sincere, caring manner. I am referring anyone who experiences pain to try this alternative approach to medicine.

Allergy

By Eugene Given

Before I came to New Realm Acupuncture, I had a lot of troubles. My legs were Numb below my knees, the Caves of my legs were very stiff and hard, the bottom of my feet “tingled” like Pins and Needles all the time, and my Nose ran almost continuously each morning and during meals. I am unable to write “Right Handed” without holding the pencil with my left hand to stabilize my pencil.

After the first 5 visits, my legs have felt much better. The Pins and Needles in the bottom of my feet has reduced to about 50%, but more treatments are needed. I have more control over my legs now, the numbness has been reduced too but again, more treatments are needed. My legs are NOT as stiff and the caves are not as hard as they were.

My Nose “dripping” has been reduced by at least 50% and it’s a good feeling.

Abdominal Pain

Abdominal Pain

I first went to New Realm Acupuncture Center for help with gastrointestinal problems. I have been experiencing chronic constipation and abdominal pain for years and wanted some relief beyond the traditional medication I had been taking. Acupuncture has helped relieve many of the symptoms I had been experiencing along with other problems, such as stress, anxiety and eczema.

I look at getting healthy as an on-going process. In the past month, I have noticed changes in my health for the better. I have improved my eating habits, increased my exercise and I try to go to acupuncture at least once every other week. I believe that with consistent attention to my health, I will eventually achieve more optimal health.

Abdominal Pain

By Joann Ort

I am pain free for the first time since having my thyroid removed March 2004. Shortly after that surgery, I developed a pain on the right side of my abdomen. After having some tests run, they couldn’t determine what the cause of the pain was and decided to watch it for a while. Two months later, I thought I had a case of food poisoning. After several rounds of antibiotics, it was not clearing up. Meanwhile my entire abdomen felt like it was on fire with intermittent sharp pains running through it. I spent much of the year on the floor, doubled over in pain. Visits with a couple of gastroenterologists, numerous diagnostic tests, and it looked like no hope of a diagnosis.

In the beginning of 2005, the pain changed and became more indicative of gallbladder problems. An ultrasound showed that I had polyps. After the second major attack that dropped me to my knees, I had my gallbladder removed. Unfortunately, the sharp, burning pain in my abdomen returned once I was off the painkillers from surgery. More tests were run. I spent more time off work and more time on the floor. I was very nauseated. By this point I had lost about 40 pounds and had no energy.

My sister recommended that I try acupuncture. She lives in Colorado and her husband’s partner was treating her with acupuncture for symptoms of menopause. I also remembered that my mom had finally found relief from a back injury through acupuncture. I went to a student clinic to try it. The first treatment eliminated the nausea. I continued to go to the clinic sporadically.

After another trip to the Emergency department in August, a gastroenterologist diagnosed me with colitis and prescribed some medication. Even with the medication, my symptoms continued. By this point I knew that the acupuncture was helping so I decided to pursue it on a more consistent basis than the student clinic afforded. Now I needed to find a licensed acupuncturist.

I read an article in Business First about New Realm Acupuncture Center. They had an impressive resume, with a family history of practicing Chinese medicine. After six visits, I was almost pain free and for the first time in over a year am beginning to feel like myself again. I have more energy and feel like I am finally getting my life back.

People ask me if the treatment hurts. The treatments have never been painful. It barely feels like a pin prick. They also talk about the expense. I do not know what I have spent this past year in co-pays to physicians, time away from work, or what the total outlay has been from my health plan. I do know the acupuncture treatment has not cost any where near my last emergency department visit (approximately $4,000). I cannot even begin to express my thanks for the help of GAO & Jing.

Fibromyalgia – From Health Practitioners

Fibromyalgia

By Diann Casagrande (Registered Nurse)

I have fribromyalgis. My symptoms are worse in the fall and winter months. I started getting acupuncture from New Realm Acupuncture in November, 2003. after several treatments over 3 months, I felt so good, that by March, I was pretty much pain-free. I really thought that I was done with the pain for good. Unfortunately, my pain did not stay away forever. I realize that this disease will always be with me, but acupuncture remains a major player in controlling my pain and keeping me functioning as a full time nurse, wife, and mother.

As a health care provider I am often asked about alternative medicine practices. I think that acupuncture definitely has a place for the management of pain as well as improving other symptoms related to many different illnesses. With acupuncture, I no longer use medication. In order to keep my symptoms at a minimum; exercise, eating a balanced diet, positive thinking, and intermittent acupuncture treatments are all part of my continuing plan for staying well and pain-free.

Thanks, Dr Gao and Jing for all the compassion, listening, and caring that I receive along with my acupuncture treatment every time that I visit!

Gratefully,

The Best Thing that ever happened to me
Acupuncture
I am 57 years old with a history of physical injuries and poor health. Sinus infections have been a significant problem for the past 40 years. Despite frequent applications of irrigation, medication, and rest, I became bedridden ill four times a year.

New Realm Acupuncture Center came to my rescue on December 18, 2004. With the first treatment my sinuses cleared completely. I have not had a medication for a sinus infection through my customary worst season. Breathing improved as air passages cleared up. Sleeping was much better and now I have more energy. I have not had a day off due to illness since treatment started (I did play hooky once).

The care that I received at New Realm Acupuncture Center is proactive as well as remedial. I am able to do more things and I am even kind to my wife. I went shopping with her and had a good time. I am able to exercise five times per week and not die.

New Realm Acupuncture Center is the best thing that ever happened to me.

To Whom It May Concern:

I have had the pleasure of knowing Xuguang GAO and Jing for two years. I was introduced to them by a patient we share. My first personal experience with acupuncture was nothing less than amazing. I was dealing with a health concern that neither drugs, surgery, or other holistic care was helping. After 8 weeks of acupuncture with Xu Guang, my complaint was eliminated!

Since then I have referred many of my current patients to New Realm Acupuncture for health concerns that Chiropractic was unable to solve. In almost every case New Realm Acupuncture’s expertise allowed the patient to experience better health.

I now get acupuncture on a regular basis to experience optimal health.

Thank you GAO & Jing!

Patient to Patient

Welcome to your adventure in acupuncture.

We each have come to New Realm Acupuncture with a specific problem – pain from an accident or injury, limitations of our physical abilities, or a specific medical problem tha has not responded well to traditional American medicine.

Our expectations have been shaped by our culture’s instant gratification … hungry? Solution: fast food. Headache? Solution: pop a pill.

Traditional Chinese Medicine treats not just the specific problem, but if permitted, will treat the entire person in ways that are nothing short of miraculous.

I came to New Realm Acupuncture using a cane. When I walked, it was slow, painful, and I was looking at the ground. I had to lift my head to see straight in front of me. I was taking a narcotic 4 times a day, blood pressure medicine, a muscle relaxant 4 times a day, and an anti – inflammatory. The side effects were many: mental fog, tiredness, lack of energy, inability to focus and still and always the PAIN.

I started with acupuncture 3 times a week, then twice a week, then weekly, then every three weeks.

It took time, sometimes it felt as if nothing was happening, but gradually the PAIN became pain, always became sometimes, then seldom, then only if I over stressed.

Today, less than a year later, I do not use a cane. I walk normally and even rapidly if I choose. I have good posture. I do not take a narcotic. I do not take blood pressure medicine or muscle relaxants. I take an anti-inflammatory only if I overstress. I am alert and I can focus. I can walk to the back of a store, I can skip for hours if I want and I can enjoy. I walk several miles a day. I garden. I crawl around in the dirt. I exercise. And, did I mention? I have been and continue to lose weight. By the way, I am not 25 or 30 years old. I am 65.

People who have not seen me for several months are amazed. They say I look younger. I smile and tell the truth. The benefits of acupuncture can be many and life changing.

I cannot thank New Realm Acupuncture, Dr. Gao, and my wonderful friend and guide for my acupuncture adventure, Jing enough.

I am sure that you are thinking I am finished with my treatments. I am not. Ongoing periodic treatments are not just maintenance but continue to provide unexpected benefits. My hair was starting to thin- now it is thick and full; the dark circles under my eyes that I have had since childhood – are starting to fade and are no longer visible in a photo.

Enjoy your adventure. Reap the benefits of acupuncture.

There are no words big and bold and rich enough to express my gratitude to New Realm Acupuncture, Dr. Gao, and my wonderful guide and friend, Dr. Jing Xiao.

My boyfriend introduced me to the world of acupuncture and Dr. Gao’s magical needles with passion from his experiences. I had been suffering from severe migraines for years and my health in general was very poor. The fear of needles was something I overcame by observing a session before I began my own treatment, asking many questions, and requesting the “table by the window.” I’m so happy I’ve tried acupuncture with Dr. Gao that now I passionately tell all my friends about the wonderful benefits that await them.

Fibromyalgia

By Karen Smith

I am 52 years old and have been receiving treatments from New Realm Acupuncture for about 3 years. I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia several years ago, never receiving any help or relief through traditional medicine. Most of the time I was told it was in my head and that I needed to see a counselor for depression to find the underlying causes of my depression which, in their mind was causing my pain.

My daughter was away at school in Boston and called one day all excited because they had an acupuncture demonstration in a class. She was the volunteer for the treatment. She said “Mom, I think you need to try it, I think it would help”. I figured I had nothing to lose, but was not going to be able to go to Boston for treatment. I email the acupuncturist there and he recommended New Realm Acupuncture.

It took several treatments, since I have had the problem for so many years, but the results are wonderful. I no longer have to have my husband massage my back every night, I am no longer crying because my whole body is throbbing and aching all day everyday. I still deal with a small amount of aching, but not near the intensity I have had for years.

When I have come in for treatment and have had other problem, Ear ache, stomach problems, sinus, stress, etc. I mention them to New Realm Acupuncture and they address them with good results every time.

I was a little nervous on my first visit not knowing what to expect and fearful that the needles were going to hurt. I was truly amazed after that first visit, the needles were not painful at all and I felt like there was definitely something changing in my system. There have even been times where I have fallen asleep on the table during my treatment!

With each visit I feel less and less pain and have more energy. I feel I have finally gotten relief from the fibromyalgia and am happy that I have been able to do so without drugs and the side effects that go with them.
